# Retro Game: Final Fight CD
## Overview
*Final Fight CD* is widely regarded by fans as the definitive home console version of the legendary arcade brawler. Ported to the powerful Sega CD system, this edition faithfully recreates the gritty story of Mayor Mike Haggar, Cody, and Guy as they battle the Mad Gear Gang to rescue Haggar's daughter, Jessica. What sets this version apart is its successful inclusion of all the key features from the arcade original that were missing from other ports, plus brand-new content that makes it a truly premium experience.
## Background
Released by Sega in 1993 under license from Capcom, *Final Fight CD* was developed to showcase the capabilities of the Sega CD add-on. At the time, the Super Nintendo port of *Final Fight* was infamous for its compromises, most notably the removal of the two-player mode, the character Guy, and an entire level. *Final Fight CD* rectified all of these issues. It restored the full roster of heroes and cooperative gameplay, but its most celebrated feature was its brand-new, arranged Red Book audio soundtrack. Composed by T's Music, the high-quality, pulse-pounding score became an iconic element of this version, elevating the entire game's atmosphere.
## Gameplay
*Final Fight CD* delivers the classic, hard-hitting beat 'em up action the series is known for, but with significant enhancements. Players can choose from the powerhouse Haggar, the balanced Cody, or the swift ninja Guy, and for the first time on a major home console, two players can fight side-by-side. The game also reintroduces the Industrial Area stage, which was cut from the SNES version. Exclusive to this release is a new time-attack mode and fully voiced opening and ending cutscenes that expand on the story. The gameplay is a perfect translation of the arcade experience, from the satisfying punch combos and grapples to the screen-clearing special moves, making *Final Fight CD* the most complete and feature-rich way to clean up the streets of Metro City.
