Gameplay
The gameplay in Road Fighter is straightforward and instantly understandable. Players control a red car from a top-down perspective, accelerating automatically up a vertically scrolling road. The primary controls are for steering left and right and shifting between a low and high gear. The main challenge comes from avoiding the other cars on the road, which range from slow-moving traffic to aggressive AI rivals that will try to block your path. Colliding with another car or the side of the road will cause a spectacular crash, wasting precious time and fuel. The most critical mechanic is the constantly depleting fuel gauge. To survive, players must hit special, multi-colored cars that appear periodically to replenish a small amount of fuel. The goal is to survive the treacherous traffic and reach the end of each stage before the fuel tank runs dry.
